Aranyhegy Juhfark, 2019

The Tornai Family has been making wines on the slopes of a small volcanic hill – the smallest wine region of the world, in fact – called Somló since 1946. The fruit of hard work, respect for nature and many years of experience, the 2019 Aranyhegy Juhfark is the perfect wine to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the winery. Juhfark is Somló’s very own variety, there is practically no other wine region where it is grown. This exclusivity makes it even more valuable, as wine connoisseurs around the world are constantly looking for new discoveries, obscure varieties with special characters.

The Juhfark grown on Aranyhegy (Golden Hill) is a wine of inimitable character, intense flavours, a highly typical expression of the Somló terroir. Low yields translate into a concentrated mouthfeel and the effects of oak ageing add extra layers to the wine. The 2019 Aranyhegy Juhfark is still young but boasts great ageing potential, and with time it is bound to become more and more exciting.
